If you are worried about your child's mental health but it is not an emergency
Changes that last more than two weeks — withdrawal, irritability, sleep problems, a low mood — are worth raising with your GP or paediatrician, who can refer you to a child psychologist or psychiatrist. Start the conversation with your child in a calm, neutral moment: tell them you've noticed something is going on and that you are on their side. You don't need to have a solution ready — being present and listening matters most.
